  1. I love your dog! So cute and great example of side light! He is so cute for your glow too. It's really hard to tell, but if you look closely around his legs/belly you can see 'the glow'. The sun hit him just right to get it. I'm sure his fur is super cute with it all 'glowing'. ;) I also love the natural little 'rainbow flare' you got in this photo. Really adds and compliments all the bright bold colors of the entire image!

I laughed when I saw your silhouette and flare from your previous comments and frustration with it. It TOTALLY works! Silhouettes is basically back lighting, exposing for your background, not your subject. Of course, your subject has to be in between you and your light source. That's why your flare worked so well. I love the rays just 'peaking' around the tree.
Your haze shot looks so even, it almost looks added PP. The sun looks like it's coming from the opposite side of your angle. Do you have your settings for this shot?
Your front lit photo looks more like a side lit photo. You can see the light source (sun) coming at her fairly strong camera left. Her shadows are stronger on camera right, which is why I say it looks more side lit, than front. Super cute photo. I love the bench in the green grass with her red hair! Perfect location for her!
The back light, also looks a little side lit to me. Typically, with back lighting, when your subject is exposed for, the back is 'blown out' or overexposed unless you're using an additional light source or strong reflector (typically close to the subject). This photo looks like the light source is strong camera right, than it is behind her. Her arm on camera left, is quite a bit darker than her camera right arm, and the shadows on her face also show the light source well. Gives a very dramatic look, which is perfect with her dress! If you would have moved to your left (camera left) you would have ended up with a completely backlit photo.

Great photos! Did you use the amazing 85? They all look so crisp, and the colors are awesome!!!

  2. Yes I used the amazing 85, I love that lens. After looking at the remarks, I can so see that my back light was off. I guess I didnt quite understand the back light but now looking at some of my older work, I can now pinpoint certain lighting including back light. I thank you for all those great comments. I have enjoyed week one of your mentoring class and look forward to the second week of what you have layed out for us. Thanks a bunch.
